Art+Play+Curiosity

A Mischief of Could Be(s) is a public art installation designed to be used. The forms are deliberately ambiguous, leaning between the familiar and the fantastical, and inviting people of all ages to slow down, imagine, and play.

Created with kids

The artwork was shaped through extensive engagement with the people who would use the space the most: children and families. We held creative workshops and conversations with dozens of children and tested preliminary concepts with the community. The process also inspired the name: A Mischief of Could-Be(s), as a gathering of possibilities and a celebration of what things could become when imagination leads.

Each sculpture holds a shape that is suggestive but never prescriptive: tree-like forms that could just as easily be tentacles, snakes, fingers, coral, roots, or imaginary creatures yet unnamed. The sculptures create openings for individual imagination to complete the artwork.

Did you know?

Every tessera in A Mischief of Could Be(s), and UGO was hand-cut. Each piece was then individually sanded on all sides, ensuring the sculptures are entirely free of sharp edges.
